Liz Bridgford, Swim School Director & Instructor 

Liz began her teaching career in 1996 at Grandview Swim School in Monterey Park. She swam through out high school and continued teaching during the summer months at Grandview. A year after graduating from high school she was invited to be the JV swim coach at Gabrielino High School. In addition to coaching she taught swim lessons for the city of Sierra Madre for two years. In 2010, she began teaching swim in South Orange County while obtaining a Masters in Special Education from Loyola Marymount University. After successfully running her own private swim school for five years, she has now become a part of the world renowned Nadadore Foundation.

 
Jennifer Wyckoff, instructor Jennifer has been teaching swimming since 1994.  She has two children, Maddie is 8 and Cole is 10. Jennifer says “My approach to teaching is to be gentle and loving yet firm and in control of the lesson. My philosophy is no two kiddos are alike nor do they learn the same way, I will work with your child to find just the right style for their needs in order to accomplish our goals in the water.”

Laura Warhurst, instructor Laura earned a Bachelors of Science in Biology from Chapman University and her Secondary Teaching Credential from UCI. She taught high school biology for 7 years before having 3 children of her own, currently ages 9, 7 and 4. She enjoy’s teaching because she loves seeing the joy on a kid’s face when they accomplish a new skill they have been striving to achieve. Laura is looking forward to starting her second year as an instructor. She says “I believe that being around water should be a fun and enjoyable experience and I truly believe every child should learn to swim.”

Steven Derman, instructor Instructor Steve Derman swam for the Mission Viejo Nadadores for two years. During his time there, he swam mostly with the National Team under Coach Richard, Coach Rose, and Coach Bill. Steve has been working with the Mission Viejo Nadadores Swim School since August of 2016. He has experience teaching children of all levels and ages, from beginners to advanced. Steve is a graduate of Aliso Niguel High School and swam on the school team for three years. He is currently enrolled at Saddleback College and is majoring in Political Science. Steve loves working with children and hopes to create a warm and friendly place where both students and parents can feel relaxed and have fun.

Instructor Steve Derman swam for the Mission Viejo Nadadores for two years. During his time there, he swam mostly with the National Team under Coach Richard, Coach Rose, and Coach Bill. Alejandra Germann, INSTRUCTOR grew up in south Orange County and began swimming competitively at the age of 6; competing 9 years on club teams and 4 years for JSerra Catholic High School. This experience led her to pursue life-guarding and swim instruction as a part-time job while working towards her Bachelors degree in Studio Art at Santa Clara University. She now is earning a Masters degree in Education and works as an art teacher at her alma mater, JSCHS. This is her second year teaching art and she has continued teaching private swim lessons during her summers off. She has 7 years experience teaching swimming to all levels and all ages, with an expertise in stroke technique. Alejandra believes that swimming is not only an important life skill, but it is an activity that promotes self- confidence and physical, mental, and spiritual health.
